…it’s time for the Minneapolis Aquatennial! In its 74th year, this festival celebrates summer fun in the Twin Cities and runs July 12-20 – nine days of fun in the sun. Here’s a run-down of some of this year’s events: (click on the links for more detail)
A Roll ‘n Stroll for Mental Health

The Star Tribune Beach Bash featuring a sandcastle building competition, milk carton boat races, a blood center drive, and canoe rides
The Twin Cities River Rats Water Ski Show on the Mississippi (4 opportunities to see it during the week)
Paddleboard Benefit Fun Race for Homeless Youth

Global Smoothie Smack Down (I have no idea what that is so I’ll have to check it out!)

Target Fireworks will close out the week
Buying a Skipper Pin supports the Aquatennial and provides exclusive offers and discounts at local restaurants and shopping venues. This year’s winning design was created by Nik Yahya Nik Rushdi, a graphic design student at the University of Minnesota.
And if you’re a get-involved kind of person, there’s a multitude of volunteer opportunities. You can help as much or as little as you want. In addition to being part of the fun, volunteers receive a t-shirt, special viewing area for the fireworks, and a volunteer appreciation party.
Summer’s here! What are you waiting for??
