The Sheer Joy of Writing
Anyone remember Trixie Belden and her BFF, Honey? How about Nancy Drew? The Hardy Boys? The Monkees? (okay, the last one wasn't a book series - they were my favorite band back in the "olden days." Now I'm humming "Pleasant Valley Sunday...")
Raised in Golden Valley, Minnesota, the third of four, I spent my childhood reading and writing. My younger brother is sure I was born with a pencil in my hand. (Probably not, Scott, but interesting idea!)
I spent hours curled up with a book, happily living in an alternate world of fun and best friends and love. Now my favorite thing to do is WRITE about that world. I've been writing "forever" - can't imagine I'll ever stop!
The last few years have been amazing as I've completed my first two novels - Finding Grace and Living Peace. (Sometimes I just refer to them as Grace and Peace. Makes me smile every time!) Work has begun on Book #3 in the "River of Life Series" - Knowing Hope.
I joined RWA (Romance Writers of America) which led me to Midwest Fiction Writers (the local metro chapter). That led me to ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) which led me to be part of starting up the first Minnesota chapter - MN-NICE (Novelists Inspiring Christian Excellence). It's been a great ride so far!
No writer should ever be an island unto themselves. There's too much to learn from (and too much to share with) others on a similar journey. What a blessing it's been already!
